What is the Best Time to Shop For Used Cars?

top 5 times when to buy a used car

Would you like to find out if it’s better to get pre-owned cars at one time or another time? While the answer to this question is most certainly yes, it predominantly depends on your own requirements. Do you need the best savings? Maybe the lowest price? Or maybe the largest selection? Or looking for the greatest value for your vehicle trade-in? Different times of the year, month, or week may generally provide their own pros and cons. To help you to better understand the options, we will look closer at the five best times to shop for pre-owned cars below.

Best to Buy Before You Need It

Choose your next car before you need one. Certainly this answer isn’t quite time-specific, but it’s often better to have more time on this type of decision instead of rushing out to purchase a replacement. It’s good to begin finding out your options in order to make an informed choice rather than a last minute one. Furthermore, it helps to make a decision before your current car is broken down, because it’ll receive an improved offer for a trade-in because it doesn’t require repair.

4th Quarter of the Calendar Year

Why should one buy a pre-owned car during the end of the year? We suggest this time of year as a result of the number of seasonal sales events usually found. Let’s consider there’s the need to create room for incoming models.

Purchase During the Start of the Week

Why would you want to shop for a pre-owned car or truck at the front end of the week? Well, when car dealerships aren’t very busy, it can be easier for car shoppers to get the car they want. Compared to Saturdays, Mondays are typically the least busy by far. This circumstance means significantly greater time from the sales team.

Seasonal Sales

Holiday and seasonal sales are generally a great time to purchase a car. While almost all national sales events provide sizable savings on new models, many car dealerships also create local promotions or offers on their pre-owned inventory, too. Typically, New Year’s ranks amongst the best of all seasonal sales events for car shoppers interested in good offers. In the middle of the year, car buyers can expect to see more savings for July 4th and Memorial Day. Last but certainly not least, there are numerous seasonal and holiday sales starting in October with Labor Day and concluding at the end of the year with December sales events to bring the calendar to a conclusion.

During the End of the Month

What’s the strong point of buying pre-owned cars during the month’s end? To be honest, since most car dealers work on a month-to-month system, it is potentially probable that some models may be obligated to be cleared to make space for incoming vehicles. This may increase your ability to find the right vehicle at the right price.

I got an email from Group 1 Toyota Fort Bend: "Recommended Services (OTHER) : during the process of bleeding the coolant system, noticed a harsh chirping noise coming from the belt tensioner and the idler pulleys. recommend replacing all idler pulleys and belt tensioner along with a new belt and water pump" I knew that the water pump had been changed by the previous owner just 3K miles ago. I took it back and asked the service advisor Angel Montalvo to confirm that the water pump, pulleys and belt tensioner were not changed by the previous owner as reported to ... Read More

I brought my vehicle in for a transmission issue. They said it was because I needed a driveshaft spacer due to my lift and need to take to an Offroad shop to fix. Okay. Did that. That made the overall ride smoother but still have the transmission issue. They also told me at this visit for a transmission issue that I needed lower control arms. I approved that but then, they gave my truck back to me that was incredibly out of alignment and was horrible to drive and I didn’t have any steering issues when I brung it ... Read More
